____Get to Know Me_____

Hello, and welcome to my portfolio. My name is Lexy Campbell, and I am a graduate of Emory University College of Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Minor in Rhetoric, Writing, and Information Design. This website is a multi-media portfolio that reflects my personal and intellectual growth both as a student and as an individual over the last four years.

In my portfolio, I write about several health and science topics I am passionate about. Simultaneously, my work often advocates for movements I am passionate about, like mental health advocacy and healthcare access. Overall, my writing is driven by my passions but grounded in my education in biology and rhetorical studies. My works and writings are divided into three categories: advocacy, academics, and aspirations. Advocacy involves work that champions causes surrounding health and well-being within educational settings and beyond, fostering empowerment and inclusivity. Academics encompasses work that surrounds my pursuit of knowledge through coursework and rhetorical analysis to expand my academic understanding. Finally, aspirations center around work that reflects personal and professional goals, driving me to envision my future trajectory. This category will serve as a place for future professional work.

My home has a particularly strong influence both on my perspectives and beliefs found in my writings. I am from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, located in the heart of Amish country and about 90 minutes outside of Philadelphia. Lancaster is near to my heart. To me, Lancaster represents the intermixture of two cultures through the traditional ways of living, through the Amish and Mennonite communities, and as a modern city that is reflexive to other metropolitan cities in the United States. At the same time, Lancaster is surrounded by natural beauty and rolling hills of farmland and Penn Woods. My background growing up in Lancaster directly influences how I view the world and the work I create. From an early age, Lancaster has taught me to appreciate Earth’s natural wonders, respect various cultures, and appreciate change.

Within my home, there is my family. I am one of four. I have two older step-siblings, both with spouses and newborn children, and a fraternal twin sister. Additionally, I have my dad and step-mom who are influential figures in my life. My family has instilled in me the values of integrity, compassion, and resilience. My familial upbringing has been essential in shaping my passions and future aspirations.

Looking ahead, I plan to embark on a journey into science and healthcare careers while nurturing my passion for writing. With each new chapter in my journey, I envision my portfolio serving as a testament to my commitment to lifelong learning, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence. By sharing my experiences and insights, I hope to inspire others and contribute to the advancement of science, healthcare, and advocacy causes close to my heart.
